The journey begins with an acorn.
When we started French Forest Floors all those years ago, it was because we knew we could guarantee a first class product every time. This comes from our unique and special relationship with foresters and lumberjacks in Northern France. Unlike other flooring companies we don’t buy from lumber yards. We are involved with the entire process of cultivation, harvesting, processing and transportation, from acorn to mature tree.
Conventional wisdom on seasoning oak, means air drying, but this doesn’t take into account differences in humidity and sunlight that can occur in a normal timber yard. That’s why our timber is air dried over a two year period, and after that – double kiln dried. A process we invented ourselves. The result means that all of our floorboards react to any differences in moisture or heat in the same way, and there are no unsightly cracks or separation of individual boards.
I personally supervise the maintenance and service of our mills, thereby ensuring that all our products are of the highest possible standard, and my staff, most of whom have been with me since the company started, share the vision and quest for excellence.
