French Forest Floors was established in 1987 following the ‘great gales’ of that year when both the south of England and northern France lost thousands of trees, most of these being oak. The French government instantly moved into action and established a group of people who could do something with the fallen timber.
That is how our firm began. The first task was to get the timber from the forest and into yards where it could be managed. Our first timber yard was set up near Boulogne and we now have three mills.
We are proud to be a major contributor to the sustainable management programme for oak forests throughout France, Germany and Belgium.
